HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECHNICIAN

A Houston-based company in the environmental/technical services business has an opening in our government services division for a Hazardous Materials Technician.  The job entails preparing waste shipment paperwork and performing site work at various military installations in the Southern California High Desert area.  The characteristics of this position are:

·         Full-time position reporting to and dispatched from an office in the Apple Valley/Victorville, California area.

·         Degree or college course work in Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field is preferred.

·         Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and RCRA regulations regarding hazardous waste generation, storage, transportation and disposal is mandatory. 

·         Experience with lab packing, waste sampling, container packaging/labeling/manifesting and hazardous waste emergency response is required.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interface with customers on a regular basis.

·         Outdoor physical labor involving sampling, packaging chemicals/waste and forklift operations are part of day-to-day responsibilities.  Most work is performed within a 150-mile radius on day trips, but periodic overnight stays out of town are required.

·         Qualified applicants must have dependable transportation to and from the office.

·         Computer skills necessary, including Microsoft Office.

·         $16 to $22 per hour, depending upon experience.
