About Job
Health Benefits Analyst

A Health & Benefits Analyst supports Mercer Consultants in the health plan design, funding, pricing, and administration of group medical, prescription drug, dental, life, disability, and other employee benefit related programs for Mercer's clients.   To fulfill this role in our Chicago office, the Health & Benefits Analyst will:
 

  • Participate in renewal rate, fee and benefit negotiations with insurance carriers 

  • Collect, analyze and interpret employee health benefit related data

  • Analyze claims and  estimate future plan costs using Mercer's pricing models

  • Work with clients and carriers to gather data and conduct research for client plans and special projects


  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance, Math or Liberal Arts

  • 2 - 5 years of experience with an employee benefits broker or an insurance carrier in a customer service, account management or underwriting role preferred

  • Superior analytical and mathematical skills; strong command of Excel

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment

  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
