Health IT Systems Strategy Specialist

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act initiated many changes affecting healthcare IT systems, health information exchange and privacy.  We seek a healthcare IT visionary that understands the challenges and can help guide our organization through the next several years through strategic long- and short-term planning, implementation of new initiatives, modification of existing program operations, and development of policies and procedures.  We are a leader in process management and workflow analysis for Federal and State agencies. 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Master's degree in a public health or technical field with 8 years of directly related experience of combined Systems Development and Program Management of healthcare IT systems.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health IT Systems Strategy Specialist providing strategic subject matter expertise in analyzing healthcare IT systems for addition to or integration with existing projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
1- Demonstrated ability to establish direction, provide alignment with program objectives, and meet multiple program commitments individually and with team of people across multiple projects.
2- Able to operate with minimal direction in a customer focused environment while demonstrating outstanding internal and external customer relational skills.
3- Experience pricing out hardware, software and infrastructure costs for healthcare IT systems.
4- Able to occasionally travel and to support off-hours via telephone if necessary.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:
1- Prior experience and/or understanding of electronic medical records (EMR), electronic health records (EHR), and health information exchange (HIE).

2- Experience and knowledge of privacy and data security requirements for health information exchange (HIE) including regulations stemming from HIPAA and the HITECH Act, passed as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). 

3- Experience with Healthcare IT, MMIS and other medical information systems within and outside the State of Texas such as Compass21, TIERS, Vendor Drug System, etc.
