Job Description:
The Health Information Analyst must have a complete understanding of medical documentation and billing requirements in order to determine appropriate levels of professional Part B services. The Health Information Analyst is supervised by and reports to the Manager of the FPA Compliance Department and the Chief Compliance Officer. The Health Information Analyst is responsible for assigned projects and monitoring activities. Monitoring Activities Works closely with the Compliance Resource Team in monitoring assigned clinical areas/practices. Reviews compliance program history for each physician in preparation for monitoring projects. Analyzes utilization report information for each physician to be reviewed; works with Resource Team to select appropriate sample. Requests medical records and copies pertinent information as appropriate. Analyzes medical record documentation for appropriateness of services billed. Performs chart abstraction either retrospectively or concurrently. Enters information in the compliance database to generate reports. Performs quality check to ensure accuracy data. Generates a summary report for review with the Resource Team. Maintains file of all monitoring data for each assigned area. Creates and maintains personal work plan, project time line and project status reports.
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of CPT and ICD 9 and current HCFA/ Medicare rules regarding billing compliance. Current professional coding certification is preferred Minimum of three years of relevant experience. Communication, interpersonal skills and follow up on issues in order to work effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both internally and externally. Ability to prepare written reports in a timely manner, knowledgeable in basic data entry and experience in the usage of Windows Applications.
