This position is responsible for coordination of the site safety, health, security, emergency response and loss prevention programs; managing the Plaquemine Health & Safety Department and maintaining liaison with regulatory agencies and the community. All actions and programs are to be in alignment with company Core Aims and Strategic Plans. |

Essential Functions List the key activities, duties and responsibilities of the position. |
Comply with Health, Safety and Security (HS&S) Responsibilities: · Must possess a thorough knowledge of applicable rules and regulations. · Evaluate Health and Safety’s Performance at the Plaquemine site. · Design systems for improving performance and ensuring compliance. · Monitor progress and compliance at individual locations through an in-depth auditing process. · Ensure that industrial hygiene, medical, personnel safety, process safety and emergency response needs are adequately addressed at Plaquemine site. · Actively support GGC’s RCMS & PSM initiatives.

Essential Functions (Continued) Create a Positive Environment for Employees: · Facilitate the company’s adherence to ACC guidelines as applicable. · Oversee employee involvement efforts regarding the safe operation of our facilities (i.e. Safety Involvement Teams). · Ensure that Health and Safety management systems are in place to accomplish strategic plan goals. · Support Continuous Improvement of all HS&S processes and personnel effectiveness. · Solicit feedback from employees to insure that their needs are addressed. Optimizing Resources · Communicate and work with each production unit to facilitate standardized interpretation and implementation of HS&S programs. · Develop and maintain Plaquemine site and local five-year HS&S plans. · Manage the Plaquemine HS&S resources to achieve optimum work efficiency.

· Effectively and concisely report site progress to upper management. · Active member of GBRIA and LCA safety committees. · Other duties as assigned. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required List the minimum educational requirements, including applicable certifications of the job (i.e. H.S. Graduate, B.S. Chem. Engr., C.P.A., etc.). List the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job (proficient in word processing software, excellent verbal and written communication skills, basic understanding of cost accounting, etc.). |
B.S. Degree with Safety or Industrial Hygiene certification, minimum of 10 years plant level Health & Safety experience in chemicals manufacturing; previous management/supervision experience required; must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Background must include safety, health, emergency response, security and loss prevention experience. Must have a detailed knowledge of applicable regulations. |
