FHG, Inc is a construction company specializing in oil terminal work (storage tank repairs/cleaning, piping, additive system installations, etc). The new Health and Safety Manager will have the following responsibilities:
· Monitor safety of FHG crews by doing jobsite visits at FHG’s customer locations throughout the Southeast U.S. This will require 2-3 days of travel per week.
· Conduct job start safety meetings (Hazcom, Emergency Action Plan, review of critical safety issues, etc).
· Administer FHG’s Safety Incentive program.
· Strictly enforce FHG’s Safety Discipline program.
· Conduct documented safety inspections.
· Investigate all violations and incidents and provide analysis and tips for how to mitigate future risks.
· Participate heavily in the planning and execution of FHG’s 3-day company-wide safety training meetings each January.
· Ensure that FHG’s safety procedures and documents stay current with OSHA standards and industry best practices.
· Monitor maintenance of adequate first aid and safety supplies on job sites.
· Work in the office a few days per month to maintain safety records and stay current on OSHA and customer safety requirements.
Qualifications:
· 10+ years experience managing the safety efforts of industrial construction crews or 10+ years experience in the oil terminal construction industry.
· A strong appreciation for safety.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and decision making skills.
· A willingness to do the right thing in difficult situations.
· Live or be willing to re-locate to somewhere within 3 hours of Charlotte, NC (this is preferred but not a must).
· Ability to create and modify safety documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.
