THE BUSINESS

 

Our Health & Welfare business helps large and mid-size clients control soaring health and welfare plan costs, improve health outcomes and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions.  We provide solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support, legal compliance and governance strategies as well as care management and wellness program design, pharmacy solutions, disability/absence management strategies and other interventions.

 

Our deep team of Health & Welfare experts includes actuaries, underwriters, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other experts.  Given the depth of our resources and our international reach, we can create solutions that meet clients’ needs on a global basis.  In addition, we invest heavily in the creation of new tools and approaches, and play a lead role in the discussion of the future of health care in North America and worldwide.

 

THE ROLE

 

As a Health & Welfare Associate you will contribute to a wide variety of projects involving the design, pricing, funding, implementation and management of a full array of H&W programs.  You will interface with vendors and key clients internally and externally, create client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES (will increase in complexity as you gain experience)

 

- Perform financial analyses including developing pricing and employee contributions strategies, modeling plan design alternatives and calculating reserves

- Conduct benchmarking studies and other research;  provide value added analyses and summaries

- Analyze and compare vendor products, services and contracts

- Contribute to projects in our Specialty area including disability/absence management, care management/wellness and pharmacy

- Draft client presentations and deliverables and provide editorial reviews

- Communicate and liaise effectively with vendors and clients regarding data collection and project execution

- Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to RFPs

- Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes

- Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

 

EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS

 

- 1+ years experience dealing with group health plans, ideally gained in a H&W consulting/brokerage firm or group health underwriting or actuarial function of an insurance company 

- Strong oral/written communications skills; comfortable interacting with professionals at all levels

- The analytical and creative skills needed to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way

- Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues

- Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn and grow in the H&W field

- Ability to work both independently and on client teams

- BA/BS degree required; group underwriting training desired
