Heavy Equipment Operator

This position requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) - four (4) years of related experience. Must posses a valid driver's license, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and meet military licensing requirements per TM 11275-15/4. Must have 20/20 vision. Minimum height of (66) inches is required. Must be able to pass a physical exam due to the harsh living and working conditions. Must also pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Job Description :
Heavy/Engineer Equipment Operators operate gasoline or diesel engine powered, self-propelled, skid-mounted, and towed engineer construction equipment, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including accessories and allied equipment used in earthmoving, grading, excavation, logging, clearing, landing operations, cableway, tramway, and material handling operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform the following activities under limited indirect supervision in accordance with established military procedures and regulation:

  • Must be able to operate Heavy/Engineer Equipment, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as Forklifts, KALMAR, cranes, clamshells, power shovels, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scrapper attachments. Equipment is used to excavate, load or move dirt, gravel or other materials. Operator may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans. May grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment.
  • Must be able to operate several pieces of engineer, and MHE equipment in support of maintenance and supply operations or military task.
  • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on the engineer, and MHE equipment prior to utilization.
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and qualified.

    Extreme danger, stress, physical hardships and possible field living conditions associated with this position within a desert camp complex. Ability to function during an extended assignment at a foreign, in-country facility exposed to seasonal temperature extremes. Ability to cope with shared cafeteria, bath and sleeping quarters. Must be able to walk, kneel, bend and stoop, and have correctable vision.
