Software Developer - Silver Spring, MD

Position Description

Will provide Java development services including performing system requirements analysis, application design, development, testing, and implementation following accepted software development life-cycle methodologies; designing and developing applications based on user requirements including user interfaces, database integration, and mid-tier application components; and integrating applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers. Will develop system prototypes, develop and maintain scripts, troubleshoot and resolve software development and production problems; and develop and enhance internet/intranet applications, program, design and conduct unit and integration tests, and identify and troubleshoot software defects. Will develop and updating life-cycle documentation for new projects or existing projects.

Required Skills

4 to 6 years experience with the entire software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, and implementation. Must have demonstrated proficiency in Java, J2EE, and Java Applets. Must have experience with Linux platforms, development and scripting on RDBMS (Oracle 9i/8i, Sybase l5.x), and Object-Oriented Design and Development. Ideal candidate understands the principles of Web User Interface Design, works well both in a team and individually, and has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodology a plus.

Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
