amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is seeking a dynamic Help Desk Technician for our IT department.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Provides primary end user computer software and hardware support to all Foundation users.  Responds to Help Desk requests for technical issues and usage assistance. Sets up and maintains smooth administrative processes for the ITS Department.  Provides administrative support for ITS billing, purchasing, and asset management. Conducts new user orientations, individual and group training sessions.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Provides Help Desk support to computer users in all amfAR offices and off-site locations. Logs solutions to issues as they arise.

 

Trouble-shoots software/hardware computer problems at the user level. Responsible for maintaining Help Desk performance within the ITS Service Level Agreement (SLA) minimum service standards.

 

Assists in safeguarding the security and integrity of amfAR’s information systems at all times.

 

Tracks purchase processes, from preparation and submission to delivery and invoicing. Places orders

and receives new hardware and software as directed by the Chief Technology Officer. Maintains vendor correspondence, invoice and product files. Submits ITS check requests and purchase orders in a timely manner to Accounts Payable.

 

Assists the Director, ITS with network backups, including changing, recording and archiving of tapes.  Oversees off-site storage of backup tapes.

 

Works with the Accounting Department to assure accuracy and detail on all ITS related inventory and fixed assets, including loaned equipment and maintenance contract renewals.

 

Develops and conducts computer orientation sessions for new employees, long-term temporaries, and volunteers. Works with the CTO to coordinate on and off-site computer training as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Two-year degree or equivalent experience, and two years of work in an information systems environment that includes training and support of users in a corporate or educational setting.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows based environment including Office 2003 and above.  Experience working on a Microsoft Windows networking environment. Knowledge of Mac OS, LAN/WAN based environment with TCP/IP, DHCP, and relational database skills are helpful.  Proven problem solving ability and excellent communications skills; capable of walking in the office and on outside errands, able to lift equipment and supplies of up to 35 pounds.  Flexibility required to undertake occasional travel assignments.   Knowledge of HIV/AIDS issues preferred.
