Hospital Planning Manager

About the Job

The Planning Manager supports the hospital health system leadership by reviewing and evaluating new or existing programs and services; monitoring market trends, and assisting with strategic plan development.  Position is "hands on" in conducting market analyses of service lines, identifying trends, competitor developments, mix changes and underlying causes.  Scope includes support to a system with over 1,000 beds in two acute care hospitals and two nursing home environments.  The position reports to the Director of Hospital Planning.

 

Responsibilities include:

-     Monitors key market, practice, and technology trends; and evaluates impact and potential strategic opportunities

-     In collaboration with others, develops business plans for new programs or expansion of current programs

-     Conducts market analyses of service lines; identifies trends, competitor developments, mix changes, and underlying causes

-     Facilitates evaluation of operational issues and opportunities

-     Monitors and facilitates compliance with regulatory and legal bodies including preparation of certificate of needs

-     Assists with oversight, training, and mentoring of other planning staff

 

Requirements:

-     Masters in health care administration or business

-     3-5 years hospital planning experience

-     Quantitative and logically oriented, while demonstrating the creative skills needed to problem-solve and present solutions

-     A good knowledge of theory and practice of health care, including regulatory compliance

-     Strong interpersonal skills

-     Effective communication skills-verbal and written are critical, as the position requires the ability to inform, present and consult with clinical staff and executives

-     Strong computer skills are needed, and experience with MS Access preferred
