POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides legal representation to Progressive's insureds and/or Progressive companies in low to moderate exposure and/or lower complexity cases.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



- Responsible for litigating cases of low to moderate exposure and/or complexity cases with supervision.

- Directs support staff in the completion of tasks.

- Handles all aspects of the assigned cases, including a holistic evaluation and overall litigation strategy.

- Counsels and advises clients

- Makes routine court appearances

- Conducts discovery and investigation

- Prepares and tries cases

- Maintains good communication with clients and claims customers.

- Works towards gaining an understanding of the insurance business, and particularly the Progressive business model.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- Juris Doctorate required

- Member of the Bar in jurisdiction(s) served by specific House Counsel office(s)

- 2+ years of legal experience/training

- Demonstrates an ability to litigate and try cases

- Ability to work independently

- Demonstrates a proficiency at expert discovery

- Demonstrated ability to manage diary

- Excellent client/customer skills

- Basic computer proficiency

- Strong analytical skills

- Good negotiation skills

- Ability to review and assess the impact of medical records, depositions and other documents

- Excellent time management and organizational skills

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize

- Effective team player

- Understanding of all applicable ethical duties

- Attention to detail

- Ability to learn new or updated computer software and programs

- Ability to learn and follow existing and new processes and procedures

- Good research skills

- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Good work ethic
