Human Change Consultant – Chicago, IL

CARA’s Chicago-based customer is in need of a Human Change leader to drive organization transformation. This leadership role would require strategic thinking, thought leadership, and tactical planning in the areas of change impact assessment, organization engagement, and organization alignment. The following is an overview of the primary elements of this role, key activities, and critical skills.

Role Description

•    Apply a structured change and communication approach and methodology for the people side of change caused by the change effort.

•    Develop an overall change management strategy based on a situational awareness of the details of the change and the groups being impacted.

•    Develop an overall stakeholder communication and transition strategy and plan.

•    Identify potential people-side risks, anticipated points of resistance and performance gaps; develop specific plans to mitigate or address the concerns.

•    Design and conduct readiness assessments, evaluate results and present findings in an interview or workshop forum.

•    Develop a set of actionable and targeted change management plans – including sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, and resistance management plan.

•    Consolidate stakeholder information, messaging, channel selection, timing into a comprehensive communications plan which includes communication events, determination of appropriate channel, and timing of events.

•    Design and execute communication events – this includes authoring of communication messages.

•    Support associate-facing managers and business leaders as they execute change plans.

•    Be an active and visible coach to executive leaders who are change sponsors.

•    Design and manage measurement systems to track adoption, utilization and proficiency of changes.

•    Create and enable reinforcement mechanisms and celebrations of success.

•    Proactively identify and manage issues/risk and establish mitigation/ contingency plans.

•    Work with track lead and track owner to develop and maintain OT track work plan.

•    Work with program tracks to integrate change management activities into the overall program.

•    Work with training, Organization Development specialists and other program tracks in the formulation of particular plans and activities to support project implementation.

•    Strong strategic perspective – Can lead identification of requirements, develop plans, and identify risks and issues.

•    Strong project management skills – Can effectively organize activities, manage a workplan, work collaboratively with others, drive to deadlines and manage risks and issues.

•    Strong communication skills – Able to tell a story in concise and impactful ways, able to deliver effective oral and written communications (including presenting).

•    Strong PowerPoint skills – Able synthesize information into visually impactful and well organized documents.

•    Fast learner and developer – Able to come up to speed quickly on issues and to quickly turn around ideas and documents.

•    Effective Leader – Able to establish relationship with stakeholders.
