POSITION SUMMARY

Provides sound HR advice and support to managers and associates and serves as business partner for recruitment and staffing, associate relations, workforce analysis/planning, change management and strategy development by performing the following functions:

Essential job duties include the following

  • Consistently and genuinely demonstrate the STARS principles of Service, Teamwork, Action, Reputation and Success in all activities and interactions.
  • Confers with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and required skills.
  • Personally conducts or supports hiring managers in the execution of candidate searches and timely hiring of quality candidates. 
  • Evaluates candidates and provides selection insight/direction to hiring managers for consideration; approves hires where background investigations or other special circumstances warrant escalated review.
  • Provides associate relations support to managers and front line staff; conducts investigations and makes recommendations for disciplinary or other action as appropriate; approves disciplinary action recommended by managers. 
  • Works one-on-one with associates and facilitates interactions with associates and managers to address concerns and/or performance issues.
  • Participates in or leads workforce analysis to ensure proper staffing, talent management, and maximized efficiency.
  • Works closely with division leadership and field managers to develop and manage succession plans and career development strategies.
  • Serves as change agent to promote new initiatives and other changes that will impact associates; consults with managers to develop communication strategies and participates in or leads the change process.
  • Evaluates Human Resources activities and their impact on the organization; makes recommendations to management as appropriate; may research alternatives, present proposals and manage approved projects.
  • Develops and maintains network of external resources such as schools, alumni groups, Internet sites, government agencies and other public organizations to help identify and source qualified candidates.
  • Identifies opportunities for effective and cost efficient external promotion and outreach such as job fairs and trade shows; coordinates and oversees events.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND TALENTS

  • Bachelor degree from a four-year college or university and three – five years recruiting and employee relations experience, preferably in a multi-site environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources laws and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet based applications. 
  • Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to connect and communicate effectively with individuals with a wide variety of experiences, backgrounds, and skill levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to be on-site at communities, including some out of state travel, up to 10% of the time.

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
