POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing Human Resource support to the Americas - U.S. based Marketing, Finance, Professional Services, NA IT and NA Business Operations organizations. This position will develop and ensure alignment of various Human Resource initiatives to business and functional strategies and effectively manage change initiatives for these organizations.

As an active member of leadership team for client groups, this position advises and influences various levels of management on all aspects of people management and leadership and actively participates in staff meetings, leadership meetings and business meetings for assigned client groups.

The position will lead and facilitate business initiatives focused on enhancing employee effectiveness and development including: Functional and BU Organization and Talent Reviews (potential ratings, succession plans, development plans, talking talent and calibration sessions), Objective Setting (annual targets and alignment sessions) and Performance Management (mid-year and annual appraisals and calibration sessions), Training/Development (Novartis Corporate Learning nominations and other leadership and management training and development initiatives), Employee Surveys (communication/action planning), etc. Trains new and existing management on these business processes.

First line contact for designated clients regarding all human resource activities. Manages employee relations activity and effectively coordinate other HR support to ensure that client’s needs are met in timely, high-quality fashion for staffing, compensation, salary planning, training/development, recognition/reward, relocation and other HR related services.

Works closely with clients on organizational change initiatives (reorganizations, talent upgrades, promotions, reductions in force, performance improvement plans, separations and

related communications). Ensures that organizational change efforts are managed effectively and in a legally defensible manner.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource management, business or a related field
Preferred Level:
MBA

Minimum Experience Required:

10 - 12 years of progressive human resource experience or a combination of human resource and business experience, with a focus on the commercial side of the business.
Preferred Level:
12+ years

Minimum Skills Required:

*Advanced consultative skills, project management, customer service, negotiation and influencing skills

*Demonstrated Human Resources Generalist experience with developing expertise in: Organizational Development/Effectiveness; Leadership Development and Change Management; Employee Relations; Compensations, including Sales Compensation Design and Administration;

* Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal communication and coaching skills

*Demonstrated organizational savvy with the ability to work comfortably with all levels within organization

*Business acumen – ability to understand business strategy and identify and execute HR initiatives that align and support the strategy

* Proficient on MS office applications, Lotus Notes and PeopleSoft HR system.
