Human Resources Generalist

Terex Corporation is a diversified global manufacturer with 2008 net sales of $9.9 billion.  Terex operates in four business segments: Terex Aerial Work Platforms, Terex Construction, Terex Cranes, and Terex Materials Processing & Mining.  Terex manufactures a broad range of equipment for use in various industries, including the construction, infrastructure, quarrying, surface mining, shipping, transportation, refining and utility industries.

 


This position is responsible for administration of Human Resources policies and programs including but not limited to: employee relations, recruiting, compensation administration, benefits, worker’s compensation, safety and training.

  • Employee relations including but not limited to: Conflict resolution/employee relations coordination; Serves as a representative for various employee relations issues by counseling employees and managers, gathering information and making recommendations.
  • Investigating and answering complaints/attending hearings as needed.
  • Recruitment and staffing administration including but not limited to: Selection and placement; Recruits and screens exempt and non-exempt applicants; Ensures compliance with Corporate hiring practices and policies.
  • Affirmative action coordination and reporting.
  • Salary and Benefits administration including but not limited to: Benefits open enrollment coordination; works with short term, long-term disability and workers compensation coordinator on escalated issues.
  • Administers the corporate performance management and salary administration programs in accordance with company policy.
  • Support multiple manufacturing site locations in different states.
  • Travel up to 25% is required.   Travel will consist of overnight stays.  
  • May be required to work beyond normal work hours based on tasks and projects assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in related field. Continuing education expected to remain current on HR concepts and technologies. 

 

EXPERIENCE:  2 - 5 years of progressive HR professional experience.  Previous HR experience within a manufacturing organization preferred.

 

SKILLS:

- Diversified duties require thorough understanding and application of standard practices, concepts and techniques related to specialized field.
- Analyzes and resolves complex matters, exercising judgment and initiative. Provides information on complex matters to others for resolution.
- Interacts internally and with related groups on matters that involve explanation and discussion to achieve agreement.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, compare and interpret facts and figures quickly to solve business problems.
- Strong working knowledge of employee relations, recruitment/staffing, training & development, organizational development, compensation strategy, benefits administration, total rewards and employee recognition.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws that influence HR policies and practices.
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to counsel, coach and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.

- Knowledge of lean and continuous improvement principles a plus.
- Experience working with state and federal agencies

- Microsoft Computer Skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  HRIS knowledge a plus.
