Human Resources Generalist / Payroll Processor

About the Job

Large law firm located in downtown Baltimore has an immediate opening. 


 


The primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:



* Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including employment processing, health and welfare benefits, records management, safety and health, employee relations and retention, EEO compliance, workers compensation claims.  Maintains personnel files.  

* Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.

* Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution. 

* Completes special projects as needed.  

* Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

* Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.  


 


* Responds to all mandatory government reporting requests, such as census questionairres, unemployment inquiries, payroll tax inquiries. 

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.

* Handles annual open enrollments.


 


* Tracks employee leave time used.  Monitors attendance.


 


* Processes weekly multi-state payroll for approximately 170 employees (some are union).  Processes bi-weekly payroll for approximately 17 employees. 

Skills/Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of employment law, including COBRA, HIPPA, FMLA, EEOC, DOL regulations.  Excel and  payroll experience, ADP preferred.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Bachelor's degree preferred. Confidentiality.  This candidate must also pass a complete background check and have strong references.
