Human Resources Manager

Location: Charlotte, NC
 
The Position:
 
We are currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager with strong employee relations and organizational development skills to join the Human Resources team as a strategic business partner. Candidates should have experience with major utilities and/or a company with strong engineering and science focus. Experience with utilities and/or companies who support utilities preferred. The position is an individual contributor job – though will work closely with a seasoned group of HR professionals and gain support from the team. This position will be located in Charlotte and will report to the Sr. Human Resources Manager, Research and Development Operations.
 
The Ideal Candidate:
 
This position will work with leadership in primarily the Nuclear Sector of EPRI’s key technical sectors:
 
  • To help assure the success of those Sectors’ business strategies by providing HR services and aligning HR practices with the needs of the business. This position will support other technical sectors and business groups within the Charlotte facility as needed.
  • Bring in first class technical talent to the organization through effective recruiting efforts. Develop successful sourcing strategies to include industry contacts, internal referrals, educational institutions, professional organizations, etc. Advise and coach managers on the development of job requirements/postings and using strategic selection processes that include behavioral interviewing questions, testing, reference checking, etc.
  • Consult with Sector Leadership in business planning-- provide program management of workforce planning, skills assessment, succession planning, compensation and incentive planning, change management, career development and organizational design.
  • Work with staff across the Nuclear Sector and other technical sectors/business groups to resolve issues and understand and convey their concerns and needs to the organization.
  • In addition this position will work with staff and managers in Charlotte outside the Nuclear Sector to provide operational HR services.   In this role, the position will provide support services in Charlotte to our R&D and business groups staff members within EPRI to resolve performance problems, deal with conflicts in the workplace, and respond to employee questions relating to benefits, compensation, training and other HR programs.
Education Level and Years of Experience:
 
  • BS degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology or related experience. Masters degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years of strong technical recruitment and generalist experience with emphasis in employee relations and strategic development required.
  • Skilled at developing and implementing creative recruiting solutions.
  • Proven success in sourcing and selecting candidates for employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal and corporate information.
  • Working knowledge of employment law. 
  • Ability to extract useful information through active listening.
  • Knowledge of compensation, employee relations and performance management and development.
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
