Human Resources Manager

General Summary

Provides support and counsel to the Sr. Manager, Human Resources, Staff and plant management. Includes, but not limited to the areas(s) of Employee Relations, Diversity, Engagement, Compensation, Benefits, Legal Compliance, Training and Development, Staffing, Human Resources Policy, Human Resources Strategy and Communication.



Principal Accountabilities

1. 20% - Implement strategies that are aligned with our business initiatives to improve recruiting, selection, orientation, mentoring, development & retention of talent for the organization.

2. 20% - Establish policies/programs that foster employee job satisfaction and high morale and enhance the employee work experience. Develop proactive communication and employee relations/recognition programs. Work with location management to improve employee engagement.

3. 20% - Interpretation, application, administration and development of Personnel Policies and Procedures. Work with both hourly and management to resolve personnel issues. Take a leadership role in consistently administering company policies and procedures.

4. 10% - Conduct needs assessments and identify solutions to streamline processes utilizing workforce management systems for improved electronic recordkeeping and transactions. Manage and administer programs to ensure the most effective utilization of human resources.

5. 5% - Facilitate and coordinate activities of Employee Relations Team to maximize resources.

6. 5% - Oversees maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records. Ensures that the rules concerning confidentiality and retention are followed.

7. 5% - Leads hourly recruitment searches and assists with the search processes: screens candidates; interviews and refers applicants; compose advertisements and correspondence.

8. 5% - Respond to unemployment claims/hearings, EEOC claims and investigate and document actions related to terminations.

9. 5% - Oversee planning and organizing of employee activities such as Team Day, Company Outing, Christmas Dinner, Christmas Cheer, Troop Support Packages.

10. 5% - Other duties as assigned.



Job Complexity

* Develop, plan, organize and implement policies, procedures and/or programs to encourage and enhance a positive employee experience, while protecting the interest of the Company and the rights of management. Examples include employee engagement, WorkKeys, Employee Kiosks, reorganization of the team structure, SAP implementation, development of a Skill Based Advancement Program.

* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees from hourly to senior management and to resolve issues within and between these workgroups.

* Must be able to address employee relations issues, identify the problem and determine the best course of action.

* Ability to juggle numerous projects and tasks simultaneously while remaining available to employees.

Job Specifications

* Bachelors degree in human resources or related field.

* 10+ years of related experience in manufacturing environment.

* Knowledge of High Performance Work Systems and Pay for Skill/Performance Programs.

* Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Print Shop.

* Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.

* Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.

* Capability and desire to work as an organizational change agent.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



Working Conditions

Normal office environment with less than 5% travel. Some time spent in manufacturing environment.
