The Role
As a result of our continued growth worldwide, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Global Human Resources team requires a dynamic, people-focused individual to take ownership of this new role of US Human Resources Manager.  This role will be based in our US headquarters in Lincoln, Nebraska.  

Reporting to our Vancouver, Canada-based Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for implementing and sustaining the company’s people strategy across our US operations.  You’ll assist the US leadership team to build and foster a high performing organization, which supports Ritchie Bros.’ business objectives, values and spirit.  And you’ll be the main point of contact for our US employees for all people-related matters.  If you’re interested in further developing your career with a thriving, multinational company, then please read on.

The Key Responsibilities

Participate in the development, implementation and administration of Human Resources policies, practices and processes in accordance with company policy and in compliance with local laws and standards. 

The key areas of focus will be:

  • Employee relations
  • Engagement and retention
  • Organizational effectiveness
  • Performance management and succession planning
  • Total Rewards
  • Provide sound counsel to US managers and staff in the areas of employee performance and career coaching.
  • Provide data analysis and written reports as requested by the global head office.
  • Represent Ritchie Bros. at trade shows and in local human resources association(s).
This job will require you to:
  • Spend several weeks training in our Vancouver, Canada global headquarters.
  • Travel occasionally to our US sale sites as needed.  

The Requirements
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and personal qualities:
  • At least 5 years’ experience as an HR Senior Generalist, ideally with culturally diverse, multinational and/or or sales-based employers.
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • SPHR or GPHR certification.
  • Experience with US human resources practices in areas such as employee relations, compensation and benefits, recruitment, and training and development.
  • Understanding of employment law covering multiple jurisdictions across the US.
  • A record of demonstrated, consistent career progression.
  • Fluency in English is required.  Fluency in Spanish or another second language is an asset.
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset; strong leadership skills are essential.
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP HR systems is an asset.  
  • You must be process-oriented and hands-on to succeed in this role.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills: a strong facilitator, you have the ability to influence decision-makers, develop consensus, and build team rapport with a wide variety of people.
  • A proven track record of delivering HR counsel to your customers.
  • Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively in a team-oriented culture.  
  • A high degree of personal integrity.
  • A sense of humour and the ability to have fun on the job.
