Large-Platform IBM Hardware Engineers & Technicians

Top Gun Technology is hiring break/fix technical personnel with hands-on experience with large-platform IBM zSeries mainframes, pSeries, iSeries or IBM storage products in locations around the United States. We provide hardware and maintenance support services to Fortune 2000 data centers that run large-platform IBM hardware in their environment.

PLEASE NOTE: These positions are for large-platform IBM hardware technicians only. Systems programmer or systems admin resumes will not be considered. Small-platform technician and non-IBM technician resumes will also not be considered.

Required Qualifications:

• Five or more years hands-on, “break/fix” experience with IBM large-platform systems
  • Thorough knowledge of all parts
  • Able to handle FRU replacement
  • Able to perform EC-level and patch updates
• Proven comprehension of software O.S., subsystems, micro-code and patches
• Must enter accurate data into incident logs
• Propensity to quickly learn new technology (or additional platforms)
• Able to work on a 24/7 rotating “on call” team (carry a satellite pager)
• Demonstrates expertise without arrogance
• Client-focused, client-driven, patient, ability to teach others
• Proven ability to work as a team and effectively juggle multiple tasks at once
• Flexible with priority changes

• Willingness to take guidance from a senior-level technician
• Excitement to work with industry leaders

 Large-platform Experience Must Include (any of the following)

• IBM zSeries platform experience: z10, z9, z990, z890, z800 or z900 (S/390 experience helpful)
• IBM pSeries platform experience: Power6, Power5+, Power5, Power4+ or Power4
• IBM iSeries platform experience: Power6, i5 or AS/400
• IBM tape model experience: 3590, 3490, 3582, 3588
• IBM disk model experience: 2105 Shark, DS8XXX, DS6800, DS4XXX, FAStT
• IBM tape library experience: 3494, 3584, 3583
