Scope of Position:

The IDAS Technical Sales Engineer is first and foremost the subject matter expert on the features, benefits and functioning of the IDAS system.  Consisting of a broad range of fiber cabling, fiber hardware, RF and optoelectronics components, the IDAS system requires a considerable degree of product and wireless infrastructure knowledge to sell and deploy.  Working with the Market Development Managers, the Technical Sales Engineer will be a primary member of the team that will secure initial sales of CCS IDAS products, generating detailed technical and business case analyses for CCS IDAS products, presenting this information directly to potential customers, assist in closing sales, and providing top notch customer support post-sale.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Provide onsite technical support for IDAS selling efforts, either solo or in conjunction with a CCS Market Development or Sales Manager, as the opportunity requires.
* Assist Sales, Market Development, and Customer Service with preparation of quotations and contracts.
* Work closely with the Product Line Manager to develop and refine business case and pricing strategies.
* Regularly provide "Voice of the Customer" input and ideas for product enhancements to multiple technology teams within Corning.
* Assist customers with the design and installation of IDAS systems, both remotely and in person.
* Work with Marketing communications, Technical publications, and Market Development to develop supporting literature, white papers, trade show presentations, etc.
* Develop and conduct training plans for Sales and Customer Service.
* Supervise activities of assigned Product Specialists or Product Coordinators (future).

Travel Requirements (please note if international):
* 50% to 70%.  Primarily US, with some EMEA and APAC travel.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
* 40 hours/week
* Occasional before or after hour meetings with other time zones

Required Education:
* BS in Engineering, Business, or Marketing

Required Years and Area of Experience:
* 10+ years experience in Technical Sales, Product Management, or Field Support
* 5+ years experience working with cellar RF technology product and service providers

Required Skills:
*  Demonstrated ability to successfully manage technically-oriented sales calls, either solo or as part of team
*  Aptitude for identifying and communicating unspoken customer needs.
*  Proven ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient, focused manner
*  Ability to translate customer and technical inputs into product feature definitions.
*  Strong presentation skills, both hands-on and in formal management settings
*  Must be fluent in English, both written and oral

Desired Skills:
*  Knowledge of cellular/datacom/telecom network management systems & monitoring software
*  Knowledge of CCS' Fiber Hardware, Cable Assembly, and Connector product lines
*  Contract negotiation experience
*  Experience working with cellular customers and markets inside and outside of the US
*  German or Chinese language proficiency a plus

*  Willingness to create and share novel ideas
