People within Application Outsourcing are responsible for the day-to-day provision of long-term outsourcing services to one or several clients.  As part of our Application Outsourcing team, you could be helping to provide the programming, management and maintenance services needed to implement and support installations of both custom and packaged application software

The IMS/DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) manages the development and maintenance for DB2 and IMS databases on an IBM mainframe.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing procedures and tools required to support development and testing activities
  • Assisting Production Operations in the maintenance of production data and data archiving
  • Functioning as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for solving complex problems and supporting Tech Arch Analysts
  • Works with the Release Manager, and the Migration and Change Control Sr. System Analyst to control changes made to supported databases
  • Coordinates with infrastructure and systems software support (TSYS) on product upgrades and fixes, database coordination, and overall database management.
  • Ensures proper performance tuning and manages database performance testing
  • Provides timely responses to client requests and queries and resolves client issues in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for providing technical support and guidance regarding DB2 databases to the development and maintenance technical team.
  • Secondary responsibilities for providing technical support and guidance regarding IMS databases to the development and maintenance technical team.
  • Provide on-call support outside normal business hours as needed.
  • Effectively executes and schedules all DB2 work units
  • Effectively executes IMS work units

 

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • 4 years z/OS DBA experience with DB2 DBA Certification OR
  • 7 years of DBA experience in a z/OS / MVS environment
  • 4 years database administration for IMS in an IBM mainframe environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Strong application coding skills in COBOL.
  • Application coding skills in C, C++ or Java.
  • Additional database skills such as Oracle or SQL Server.
  •  Certification as an DB2 application developer.
