Reviews  inpatient admissions to assure appropriate level of care. Coordinates with physicians, staff, and facilities regarding patient care. The utilization review nurse works with hospital, skilled nursing and rehab facilities to review the patients inpatient plan of care and works with the facility discharge planners to meet the patients post discharge needs.  This position works closely with the healthplan medical directors to monitor  clinical activities for our inpatient members  and identify alternative levels of care as part of the utilization review process. 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Registered nurse with current state RN license. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

• Previous experience (usually 1+ years) in utilization review, managed care or case management preferred.

•          Significant experience (usually 3+ years) medical/surgical clinical experience.

•  Computer proficiency required.
