IT Business Analyst
This job contributes to OSI Pharmaceuticals success by applying a thorough knowledge of the needs of a specific business unit or department combined with knowledge of systems technology to identify and design improvements for computer based systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides user support, troubleshooting, input on business requirements, system and process enhancement support and documentation, system maintenance, and training.
- Acts as a lead to direct, coach and mentor less experienced analysts.
- Models and acts in accordance with OSI guiding principles.
- Identifies opportunities to enhance existing functionality or features through new or existing systems.
- Develops plans and manages project progress to standardize and improve systems and better support business process.
- Works directly with business unit to communicate business requirements, priorities and scope in conjunction with business goals.
- Gathers, analyzes and documents business requirements for system enhancements or system selection and implementation. Creates new system documentation.
- Manages testing of systems, applications or system interfaces. Develops test plans and scripts to ensure turnkey solutions to internal and external customers. May develop detailed functional system design specifications.
- Acts as contact for all users on system needs or issues. Troubleshoots software and hardware issues on multiple programs to keep systems operational. Coordinates issue resolution according to priorities designated by business group management or other controls. Creates and distributes communications updates to system users on problem resolutions.
- Promotes teamwork to achieve business results.
- Maintains systems configuration documentation and procedures, such as user setups and interface administration for departmental computing or non-enterprise systems. Maintains a log of completed and ongoing system changes.
- Provides ongoing end-user systems training to ensure continued and correct use of application and to roll out new tools and procedures. Collaborates with business group management to develop appropriate training materials to support the needs of the functional area.
Education/Experience Required:
- B.S in Computer Science or Business related or equivalent work experience.
- Progressive experience in application and/or database design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance in a complex systems environment, as well as diverse business experience – 8-10 years.
- Current experience in the development and support of the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i including Financials, GL, AP, AR, Purchasing and Project Accounting is required. 8 - years.
- Strong technical and interface design skills, with the ability to match systems to business needs.
- Team and project management experience, including the ability to build and lead cross-functional teams.
- Analytical and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in initiation through deployment of one or more large implementation or upgrade project.
- Working knowledge of business processes, system development and process improvement.
- Understanding of functional area business objectives, strategies and work flow processes.
- Ability to convey technical information in an accessible and understandable manner.
- Ability to provide end-user support and training.
- Experience with tools, utilities, software integration, systems design, application design methods.
- Script development and application testing.
- Hands on experience with application development tools, such as SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Discoverer, Toad, XML Publisher and Workflow.
- Experience with the Unix operating system.
THIS JOB WILL BE BASED IN ARDSLEY, NY BUT WILL WORK OUT OF MELVILLE, NY THROUGH THE FIRST/SECOND QUARTER OF 2010 BEFORE TRANSFERRING TO ARDSLEY.
