Information Architect

 

Information (Data) Architect/Modeler

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Information Architect is responsible for ensuring that the data assets of an organization are sustained by an architecture that supports the organization in achieving its strategic goals. The Information Architect will define and document enterprise data standards that cover databases, data integration, data acquisition, archive recovery, including the physical components and their functionality.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

·         Design conceptual and logical models

·         Maintain models to meet new and changing business requirements

·         Develop strategies for data warehouse implementation

·         Communicate physical database designs to database administrator

·         Evaluate data sources for adherence to quality standards and ease of integration

·         Develop and maintain process for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data sources

·         Work closely with the users, systems designers and the developers on project teams

·         Provide technical and data leadership to the application development group, IT and the enterprise

·         Participate in and lead discussions regarding the future direction of systems, how they will impact the enterprise, and how future and current systems can be exploited for the benefit of the enterprise

·         Working closely with other IT groups to coordinate current and future plans and activities

·         Coordinate technical assistance to facilitate specific development projects

·         Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, with a minimum of 5 years equivalent work experience preferred

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

·         Knowledge of applicable data retention, security and privacy practices

·         Strong conceptual, communications, and technical skills

·         Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions

·         Strong relational and dimensional data modeling, data quality and database design skills

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·         Experience as a Data Architect, along with data modeling experience using modeling tools

·         Experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues

·         Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

·         Experience working in a fast-paced high demand environment

·         Experience establishing and maintaining data dictionaries

·         Experience designing schemas for data warehousing and transactional databases

·         Experience designing data models that support enterprise application integration

·         Experience designing and maintaining metadata registry

·         Experience with Distribution & CPG industries

·         A minimum of 5 years of experience in a delivery role

·         A minimum of 5 years functional experience within an IT environment

·         A minimum of 5 years knowledge of designing different processes/solutions for various clients

·         Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Successful teamwork experience & demonstrated leadership abilities

·         MUST be willing to travel
