As part of an Enterprise Information Management team, you will be engaged in all aspects of data management and our enterprise information management function, from defining the strategy to execution and managing ongoing alignment across the entire UnitedHealth Group organization. This position will initially focus on the integration of TriCare into the UnitedHealth Group environment.Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of various strategic initiatives around Meta Data Management, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Architecture Policies, Standards and Governance

  • Participating in the various review processes associated with Data Architecture at the enterprise level

  • Participating in data architecture design and review processes, including planning and monitoring efforts, reviewing deliverables and communicating to management

  • Playing an active role in the definition of canonical models for the different domains

  • Leading creative approaches to problem solving

  • Developing and delivering quality 'products' to support our Enterprise Data Architecture strategic initiatives

  • Exercising mature judgment that creatively balances both centralized and business-aligned operational context

  • Advocating best practices concerning Data Architecture

  • Influencing decisions across the enterprise related to data

  • Responding to change and engaging in multiple projects simultaneously

  • Escalating issues as necessary

  • Point person for data related issues

  • Champion who can focus on just data and provide require directions

  • Provide bridge among various systems teams

  • Design reviews and sign-off for data movement processes

  • Involve in data movement with internal and external parties/systems

  • Overall knowledge for where data flows in the TriCare system

  • Responsible to provide alignment with EIM standards and best practices

  • Implement and follow standards for new system/schema build for TriCare

  • Responsible for Data Flow diagrams and data dictionary

  • Supports to achieve desire data security and quality

  • Custodian for data access request for TriCare data

  • Participate on data Integrations, web-services, XML, BO reporting and other data related activities

  • Create or reuse standards for data exchanges

  • 10 + years of experience in the IT profession, with 5 + years serving in a data architecture role

  • Proven experience in large scale data integration initiatives

  • Proven expertise with Data Management, Data Warehousing, and analytics, including extensive implementation experiences

  • Deep experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling for large databases

  • Experience with ERWin and Model Manager

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data technologies including large relational databases (Oracle or DB2 preferred), data management, data modeling and integration tools (e.g. ETL)

  • Experience in a large organization, with high-performance, large transaction volume database systems

  • Experience with data warehousing systems (TeraData, IBM, Oracle) preferred

  • Prior experience with MDM and/or canonical modeling preferred

  • Assertive (yet diplomatic) personality and the ability to handle change

  • Ability to lead, influence and motivate others

  • Strong consultative and presentation skills

  • Ability to present and explain information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and promotes understanding and consensus building

  • Familiarity with services based development and technologies is a plus (e.g. XML, XSD)

  • Experience in a complex Health Care Insurance Services environment desired

  • Familiarity with the regulatory environment affecting data in a Health Care Services environment is a plus (e.g., HIPAA 5010)
