IT Desk-Side Support Technician

About the Job

TMK IPSCO, a top U.S. steel pipe producers and a division of OAO TMK, one of the world’s largest oil and gas pipe producers, is seeking an IT Desk-Side Support Technician to join its team in Blytheville, AR. 

 

The IT Desk-Side Support Technician roll is to help improve overall IS productivity. The primary function of the position will be to field help desk calls, coordinate appropriate responses and log information into the Enterprise approved Help Desk Tracking System. In addition, this person must be available to perform field work either in person or remotely via VPN to other locations.

 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing front-line desktop support
  • Supporting the Network Architect and Systems Administrators
  • Working along with IT colleagues to research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols and standards in support of all systems and infrastructure
  • Providing local training on systems, hardware and phones as required by local IT management
  • Installing and configuration of new workstations as needed

 

Qualifications:

·         Four-year degree from a college/ university or two-year certificate from a technical institute in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or business administration, or in process of receiving, or two years of equivalent work experience. Emphasis in computer related courses is preferred.

·         One year of experience in Desk Side Support or relevant operational experience.

·         Must be knowledgeable in software products including, but not limited to Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005, Oracle, Windows Sharepoint Services, Windows Software Update Services, Backup Exec, Terminal Services, Citrix.

·         Must be knowledgeable in service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.

·         Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware.

·         Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

·         Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

·         Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.

·         Highly self-motivated and directed.

·         Keen attention to detail with a strong customer service focus.

·         Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

·         Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
