This position is to maintain and monitor all servers, workstations and network LAN/WAN devices. Perform all required hardware and software maintenance, updates and upgrades of existing workstations/servers, new installations, as well as staying abreast of emerging technologies and innovations as they relate to the field of network connectivity, fault tolerance, redundancy, operability, and security.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer all workstations, servers, routers, switches and firewalls.
- Evaluate and/or recommend purchase of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment and software.
- Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solution.
- Install, configure and maintain workstations, servers, networks devices, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices and systems.
- Perform and/or oversee software and application installation and upgrades.
- Maintain site licenses for all hardware and software.
- Plan and implement network security, including firewalls, cryptography, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity and adding/deleting users.
- Identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
- Establish and perform maintenance programs, risk assessments, and system audits and reports.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
- Degree in computer science is required.
- Desirable Certifications: MCSE, MCDA, CISSIP, SSCP, CCNP, JNCIA.
- Five (5) or more years of systems/network experience is required.
- Experience in maintaining a Five Nines environment
- Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Ability to install, configure and maintain servers, workstations, networks and related hardware and software.
- Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures and techniques.
- Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Responsibilities will occasionally require evening and weekend work in response to the needs of the systems being supported.
- Working knowledge of AD, maximizing security options.
- Working knowledge of roving profiles.
