IT Project Manager
Seeking a seasoned project manager who has managed multiple large, medium and small projects involving complex enterprise wide applications with numerous version upgrades, enhancements and bug fixes. The ideal candidate will be internally driven and have a strong sense of urgency to complete IT projects in a rigorous, highly visible environment. The candidate must have excellent leadership, team building, and communications skills across multiple levels of management and technical teams. The candidate must also have very strong knowledge and experience in formal project management methodologies.
The ability to handle multiple initiatives, quickly-changing priorities, and customer expectations is absolutely paramount for success in this role. A very solid knowledge of the day to day operational activities like requirements collection, architectural design, coding and QA testing are essential. Experience managing offshore resources is a must as well.
Because this is a highly visible position that touches many groups - the candidate will have to be able to flourish in a political environment, and be diplomatic enough to consider the impact of decisions on other groups.
This position is responsible for:
· Managing projects in the areas of Finance, HR, Legal, Claims, Underwriting, Operations and Policy Admin for this P&C Insurance company
· Managing all aspects of software development projects according to methodology and program standards as set by the company
· Managing COTS system selection, implementation, configuration and production control
· Project risk analysis, assessment, planning, and management, interfacing with all levels of management and IT within the organization
· Earned value analysis as well as other formal PM methodologies for forecasting and reporting on project budgets
· Project status tracking and reporting to IT and Executive Management
· Direct project oversight reviews and assisting executive management with data for decision making
· Project resource forecasting, leveling, and integration
· Project communication strategies and delivery mechanisms
· Development and assignment of milestones and tracking of on-time delivery and quality
· Manage multiple stakeholders on the project and other duties as assigned
· Management of the full Software Development Lifecycle from initiation through requirements, analysis, design, development, testing and deployment
· Identification, tracking and resolution of issues related to the project throughout its lifecycle
Required Skills:
· 10+ years of project management experience with technical knowledge garnered from working in IT involved in application development, package implementation and operations
· P&C Insurance Industry experience and a working knowledge of the insurance claims processing process a major plus
· Experience in managing small to large teams of matrixed resources from all areas of the development lifecycle – BAs, SAs, Developers, Architects, PMs, QA team and operations
· Experience as a functional manager doing reviews and career coaching a plus
· Must have demonstrated experience in 2 large scale projects from initiation through planning, execution, control and closeout with delegation, budgetary and scope responsibility/authority
· PMP Certification
· Knowledge of formal software development methodologies a plus
· Knowledge of MS Office Suite include MS Project and Visio
· Strong facilitation skills
· Strong project planning
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
