Summary of Duties:
Sr. AIX/Linux Administrator (emphasis on Linux) with the ability to provide technical direction for the Red Hat Linux, AIX and Internet environment. Provides technical support to major Websphere Application Server based internet initiatives on a Global basis. Has the ability to administer an Enterprise-sized site with minimal assistance. Knowledge of J2EE.net, php and Apache.
Initiates new responsibilities, develops the architecture and helps to plan for the future of the global sites. Trains and supervises in UNIX and Websphere related tasks. Evaluates and/or recommends purchases; has strong influence during purchasing process.Evaluates server performance and recommends solutions to potential issues.
- Experience: Five to seven years system administration experience on IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux Platforms.
- Strong Unix clustering experiencing including HACMP.
- Thorough understanding of internet technologies, with strong working knowledge of Websphere Application server, HTTP and Internet architectures.
Education:
A degree in computer science or a related field, is required
- Key Technical Skills: Proficiency in all aspects of AIX UNIX/Red Hat Linux system administration and Websphere Application Server; Particular interest in Java coding techniques and internet application design.
- Ability to administer a WAS environment for large scale production use.
Strong skills configuring servers, fundamentals of the Domain structure, installing third party software.
- A strong understanding AIX-based operating systems on IBM Pseries servers.
- Additionally, working knowledge of IBM Lpar technology on the enterprise size Pseries servers and experience with HP servers.
- Understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do: strong working knowledge of File Systems and storage management.
- Strong working knowledge of EMC storage devices (DMX, Celerra, Clariion and related EMC configuration software.
Strong experience with clustering technologies including HACMP. Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts. Familiar with current Unix security concerns and techniques, including single-signon technology (LDAP).
- Can configure NFS and DNS, familiar with Cisco switches and routers, understands basic routing concepts
Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (for example ksh, Perl, or tcl).
- Experience with installation and configuration of Quest Foglight monitoring tools, a plus.
Internet Experience:
- Excellent Web server knowledge base, with IBM WebSphere and Apache Web server.
- Working knowledge of WebLogic application server in a Linux environment, a plus
Other Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of training users in applications and AIX UNIX fundamentals; and writing basic documentation.
- Independent problem-solving; self-direction.
- Project management and presentation skills required.
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
