IT Specialist
Position location is Iraq. This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance, administration, security, and enhancement of the organization’s information technology overseas contract offices. This includes, but is not limited to, all aspects of the following; Computer Network, Intranet, Website, personal computers, servers, telephone and voice mail, cell phones, and satellite communications.
- Analyzes complex business needs presented by user community and recommends effectively, timely and appropriate technical solutions.
- Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing IT applications and hardware by maintaining, and enforcing standards, procedures and policies for technical solutions and use.
- Ensures all IT related software and hardware is properly inventoried and signed for by the applicable employees.
- Ensures that all hardware and software are appropriately licensed and that the best security practices are developed and maintained.
- Provides personnel with computer, cell phone, network, landline phone, satellite phone, and associated software support in a timely resolution of any technology related issue.
- Provides all aspects of telephone support to include cell, landline, and satellite phone installation.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses system/equipment malfunctions.
- Will provide orientation and training for company employees in the technical operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Prepares operating and malfunction reports and submits to Corp. IT Department.
- Installs additional network and phone lines where needed.
- Maintains a close relationship with vendors for purchasing information and network technical support for overseas offices.
- Other duties, responsibilities or projects as assigned.
- Verifiable experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair of computer peripheral/interface equipment, digital multiplexes, switches, radio frequency transmitters, i.e. Motorola and E.F. Johnson base systems, receivers, antennas, and modems.
- Verifiable experience in the installation and maintenance of RF/Microwave communications systems.
- Outstanding customer service, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside agencies.
- Excellent communications skills with employees and external vendors, including those from diverse cultures.
- Maintain an understanding of current best practices and applications of related hardware and software.
- Exercise sound and independent judgment.
- Satellite Communications experience a plus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Seven or more years of experience working in IT, including time spent managing the function.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field.
- Ability to travel throughout assigned region. Region(s) may be in high threat environments.
- Possession of a valid Secret or equivalent, security clearance, or ability to obtain one.
