Job Responsibilities
The duties of the person employed are to interact with device designers for development of new sensors, evaluate new sensor designs, assist engineering with implementation of new sensors in imaging systems, and help troubleshoot sensor performance related problems.
A person in this role will:
Use their knowledge of the state of the art in imaging technology to determine the best approach scientific imaging measurement system for critical applications.
Assess commercially available sensors for suitability for scientific measurement applications.
Interact with device designers to develop custom sensors when no viable commercially available parts exist.
Direct the development of electronic test hardware and software to evaluate sensor performance.
Participate in the design and development of imaging systems as a sensor specialist.
Education:
Minimum education requirements are a bachelor’s degree in Physics or electrical engineering plus 5 years relevant experience. An advanced degree in Physics or electrical engineering is preferred.
Skills:
Necessary skills include:
A solid understanding of electronic imaging principles, including the physics of CCD and CMOS sensors.
Sufficient familiarity with electronic and software systems to be able to set specifications and analyze cost/benefit trade offs.
