Import/Export Requirements

Ensure all U.S. and country requirements are met on import and export shipments.

*Prepare documentation for all export shipments.

*Assist with import documents for freight forwarder when required.

*Instruct shipping with customer marking and crating requirements.

*Determine best forwarder.





Shipping

Apply proper packaging and marking methods as prescribed or determined to prepare, protect and identify items during handling and shipment.

*Review procedures and apply the instructions along with practical knowledge of materials and equipment to properly prepare items for shipment.

*Maintain accurate and timely shipment of products or materials to their destinations.

*Use of company business systems to determine the status/disposition of product.

*Assist customers with packaging and processing of shipments.



Policies/Procedures

Maintain knowledge of export regulations.

*Maintain a current knowledge of country regulations for export/import shipments to assure all applicable requirements are met.

*Instruct forwarders on documentation requirements relating to schedules, financial collection control, bills of lading and tracing.



Advise

Act as a resource person.

*Advise Contracts of potential problems on their orders with shipments or documents. Call with shipping details.

*Provide direction and education on export forms.

*Answer questions

*Train new personnel as necessary



Documentation

*Maintain all records and perform required follow-up.

Minimum Education and Years of applicable experience:

Three years related prior experience.

Associate's/Technical Degree in International Trade or related or International Trade training preferred



Other Position Requirements:

*Ability to work a flexible schedule:

oOvertime including weekends for end of the month

oOccasionally short notice overtime (less than two hours notice)
