Independence Representation Reviewer - Wilton

Deloitte is actively seeking an additional Representation Reviewer for their Independence team located in Wilton, CT.  Our Ethics & Compliance Representation Reviewers provide critical assurance to firm leadership and other outside regulatory bodies that Deloitte has certain independence quality control procedures in place to effectively monitor our people's adherence to firm policy and other regulatory requirements, as well as to identify and resolve exceptions in a timely manner.

At Deloitte, we believe we are the eyes and ears of the public and the capital markets. As such, we must do everything in our power to assure that we behave, and are perceived to behave, objectively.  As a first step, this means clearly establishing our independence from the client, showing we share no financial interest or mutual business interest with them.  Our team performs this function.

We provide independence, ethics & compliance services to Deloitte USA LLP and its subsidiaries.  We work from one
location, a National Office located in Wilton, Connecticut.
The individual in this position will identify and resolve exceptions based on employees' responses to their annual independence representations, in addition to performing additional review procedures to ensure issues are properly disclosed.  This function is part of Deloitte's Independence Quality Control to effectively monitor our people's adherence to firm policy.
This person must effectively work independently, and as part of a team, in a dynamic work environment.

They will also coordinate their activities with other team members, develop best practices, and collectively develop a base of knowledge used to consistently address issues that arise.  The individual will also work closely with others in the Independence, Ethics and Compliance group who resolve issues arising from their respective functions.
- Four year undergraduate degree (preferably business or accounting)
- 1-3 years regulatory compliance or
comparable experience (needs to be attentive to detail and possess professional skepticism)
- Proficient with technology tools (Microsoft Office applications and database technology)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (needs to feel comfortable communicating with individuals ranging from staff to senior partners)
- Effective time management skills
- Familiarity with financial instruments, financial services and investments (needs to understand common financial instruments)
- An understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firms a plus.
