NFI is seeking an Industrial Engineer for its Chino, CA location. You will be responsible for designing warehouse solutions for RFIs, RFQs and RFPs from existing or potential customers, modeling those solutions for operational needs and financial costs, and creating facility designs to support those solutions. You will also be responsible for storage system design and installation, new equipment purchase, and other start up-related activities for new facility openings. You will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives consisting of optimizing staffing plans, space utilization, and engineered labor standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analysis of initial sales information to determine data needs for cost modeling, create a proposed operations solution, and the subsequent modeling of the proposed solution for costing. Determine rates for storage, handling, and special activities including facility costs, equipment requirements and staffing needs.
- Create AutoCAD facility designs, project Gantt charts, project calendars, process flow charts and preparation of the resulting data for use in sales packages or presentations in response to the RFI/RFQ/RFP.
- Present results of the solution design and its associated cost modeling to both internal and external customers.
- Ensure operations solutions are prepared for implementation, including, but not limited to, requesting quotes from vendors for all storage systems, miscellaneous material handling equipment, and any needs not under the direction of other company departments or personnel.
- Responsible for the installation of the quoted materials and for the establishment of the storage location system in the start-up facility.
- Responsible for initiating and implementing labor standards and labor tracking systems for new and existing operations, specific to customer requirements.
Requirements:
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering preferred
- 3-5 years experience with distribution engineering preferred
- Consulting experience and presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint. Experience using AutoCAD, Arena, or similar simulation software and others as needed.
- Experience with in-depth facility design of racking systems, shelving systems, bulk storage areas, offices, forklift charging/parking areas, etc.
- Experience with training staff using the standard operations procedures determined for the start-up or from the company standards manuals.
- Ability to perform operational studies of existing operations to determine such items as: Productivity Standards, Productivity Improvements, operational needs analysis, operation changes since start-up, etc
- Experience with operational audits, time studies, and other practical work measurement/analysis methods.
