Industrial Sales Engineer/Manager

About the Job

Immediate opening for a Sales Engineer/Manager.  This position is located in NW Georgia with both domestic and internation travel up to 25%.  Must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree- preferred in Engineering.  Prefer background in large engine industry (diesel,marine etc)  The successful candidate will be working directly with large customers and managing several regional sales managers.  Please see requirements below! 

 

Minimum requirements:

  • B.S. in Engineering,Marketing or related technical field
  • 5+ years experience in managing direct report sales staff
  • Sales and marketing experience in diesel engine market or closely related field
  • Proven leadership and problem solving abilities
  • Collaborative working style with strong capability to work with multicultural teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with development and administration of budgets
  • Basic understanding of financial statements
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft applications and Lotus Notes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a self starter able to lead with little direction from above
  • Must be very good at time management while multi-tasking
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complex tasks as needed

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Approve: requests for business travel, requests for time off, budget expenses, expense reports, and pricing proposals
  •  Department Goal Setting- Establish annual goals and provide on-ongoing feedback and direction to staff with aim at achieving stated goals
  • Staff development including: training, discipline, motivation, performance evaluations, recruitment and termination of staff as required
  • Budget oversight

 

Responsibilities:

Function

       Budgetary:

o    Develop annual departmental budgets for sales revenue and related expenses and then monitor results versus budget.

o    Develop and establish methods and polices to increase sales and profit, with goals to meet or exceed budget.

o    Review and report on monthly sales results vs. budget.

o    Prepare and present department information at monthly managers meetings and annual sales managers meeting.

       Internal Communication:

o    Maintain good working relationships with other departments internally by coordinating and communicating sales and marketing activities through e-mails and meetings (both formal and informal)

o    Communicate on a regular basis with supplying factories   for pricing, scheduling customer activity, and forecasting through e-mail, telephone conversations, teleconference calls and site visits

       External Communication:

o    Increase and maintain customer satisfaction and trust through close communication with customers by communicating our value as a supplier through e-mails, letters and face to face meetings

o    Maintain good working relationships with outside vendors by communicating our expectations and objectives through e-mails, letters and face to face meetings

o    Prepare and make formal presentations to customers and vendors as required.

o    Intervene in account receivable issues as needed.

       Marketing: 

o    Responsible for promotional activities including: creation of marketing materials including literature and spec. sheets, planning of trade shows, creation of advertising media plans, creation of print advertising,  planning of distributor meetings, publication of price sheets and other related sales tools, website content, bulletins to distributors,

o    Attend all trade shows as required.

o    Negotiate and publish current pricing information.

o    Improve and increase distributor network by: motivating current distributors, terminating weak distributors and recruiting new distributors where required.

o    Create and execute formal presentations to customer and at intra-company meetings.

o    Negotiate supply agreements with both customers and vendors.

o    Provide market analysis and competitive data as required.

o    Initiate feasibility studies regarding new product development or new programs as requested by Division manager

       Supervisory:

o    Provide Training and Staff Development

o    Develop and establish and prioritize department goals and standards

o    Develop, lead, and train staff through personal example, guidance, and education

o    Utilize project tracking tools to improve efficiencies and maximize sales results

       Domestic and International Travel:

o    Site visits to OEM customers, distributors, trade shows, vendors, supplying factories and corporate headquarters.
