Infection Control Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY:
- Initiate and implement Infection Control Standards throughout facility
- Ensure compliance with NYS and JCAHO regulatory requirements.
- Prepare quarterly report of statistical data for the Infection control Committee.
- Trend injuries and make recommendations to decrease injuries as well as assist with implementation of such recommendations.
- Report to the County Health Department any reportable diseases, and work with the health department in complying with any problems related to outbreak and control of communicable diseases. Pertinent information is reported to the Health Department in a timely and accurate manner.
- Make rounds of patient care units and provide unit manager with feedback on identified problems; and assist where possible in resolving problems and concerns.
- Participate in the formulation and revision of all hospital policies and/or procedures dealing with Infection Control.
- Maintain continuing records of each infection appearing after admission. Records show evidence of concurrent review and updating.
- Exercise authority in putting into action such control measures as isolation and corrective actions when any severe breaks in technique occur, which require prompt remedial action. Corrective discipline is initiated where needed in accordance with the infection.
- Actively implements intent of National Patient Safety Goals.
- Act as consultant to nursing and medical staff concerning Infection Control
- Assist with in-service training programs related to Infection Prevention and Control.
- To interpret policies and procedures concerning Infection Control and to ensure that policies and procedures are carried out effectively.
- Participate in all Infection Control Committee Meetings, Patient Safety Committee, Safety Committee, and assigned committees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Baccalaureate or Masters degree in related field preferred
- Current New York State nursing license a PLUS
- APIC certification STRONGLY PREFFERED - CIC
- Additional educational preparation is desirable in the areas of Epidemiology
- Acute or Sub Acute Care experience preferred
Salary up to $110,000 with excellent benefits
