Infection Prevention Coordinator

Ben Taub General Hospital

Coordinator is  responsible for performing infection control surveillance, prevention and infection control activities; as well as collecting, analyzing, and reporting data; formulating and reviewing policies and procedures; monitoring staff compliance with infection control policies in areas of responsibility;  acting as a facilitator to reduce the risk of infection within the hospital and associated clinics; developing/coordinating educational programs; and serving as a key member of the IC team reporting directly to an Infection Control Manager with support and oversight by the organization Director of Infection Control. 

Qualifications 

Requires current Registered Nurse Texas licensure (or eligible); Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN); completion of basic infection control and epidemiology training; a minimum of two years recent acute care infection control experience and two years clinical experience.  CIC and two years management experience preferred.

Knowledge of regulations/standards related to hospital infection control; excellent customer service skills and a working knowledge of adult education principles will also be required.  Demonstrates computer literacy, possess the ability to enter and manage data, and create reports.  Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision in a fast paced work environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
