Organization Objective/Purpose:
The Capacity Planning team helps ensure the most effective and efficient use of a large IT investment across distributed, mainframe, and storage environments. Capacity practices cover reporting & trending, application performance oversight, business impact analyses, ad-hoc studies, benchmarks, modeling and hardware forecasting.
Brief Description of Role:
Monitor key business projects and related capacity and performance drivers in order to anticipate and plan for hardware upgrades. Prepare regular analysis and reports to management covering the health of mission critical servers and/or mainframes and recommend alternative capacity remedies where appropriate. Work with principal business units to forecast existing workload growth and to assess new project impacts.
Technical/Functional Qualifications:
- Completed or pursuing BA/BS in Computer Science or related field
- Familiarity with capacity/performance concepts such as data collection & monitoring, reporting techniques, modeling and sizing
- Familiarity with UNIX, Linux, Windows and/or Mainframe systems
- Familiarity with MS Office tools including Word and Excel
- Good communications skills
