Position Summary:
William O’Neil + Co., Inc. is looking for an experienced and self-driven Information/Data Warehouse Architect. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated technical leadership in an architectural role as well as an understanding of business requirements for the design and implementation of data and content solutions for the enterprise data warehouse.
Responsibilities:
· Architect solutions on the conceptual, logical, business area, and application levels
· Define and create the database from conceptual, logical to physical models
· Define, design, and implement data and content solutions that integrate with different information distribution platforms
· Migrate existing legacy databases to a state-of-art Data Warehouse solution
· Define and create ETL guidance and direction to support application development needs
· Work closely with developers and database team members to design and enhance database solutions.
· Establish and communicate guidelines and data architecture best practices.
· Participate in code reviews to ensure that the data architecture standards are implemented.
· Implement and enforce rules for content usage as defined by product management and data architects
· Create and maintain physical and logical data models.
· Work in a team environment and be a team player.
Job Requirements:
· Minimum 6 years database design and modeling experience.
· Knowledge of database development, information aggregation and distribution
· Extensive experience with ETL methodologies, business intelligence, and data warehouse principles, approaches, technologies, and architectures including concepts, designs, and usage of data warehouses, data marts, and operational data stores (over 1 TB)
· Minimum 4+ years experience developing normalized and dimensional data models (logical and physical) to support reporting and analytics; significant experience using modeling and repository tools such as Erwin; 4+ years experience architecting BI solutions
· Minimum 4+ years experience implementing data integration platform using advanced methods with Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, Reporting Services, etc
· Extensive experience in database / SQL / Stored Procedure performance tuning (application DBA)
· Knowledge with UNIX/LINUX, MS SQL Server, Transact-SQL and/or Oracle, PL/SQL
· Ability to multi-task to support multiple initiatives
· Knowledge of SQL, shell scripting, and XML a plus.
· Knowledge with web technologies.
· Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
· Strong interactive problem solving and decision-making skills.
· Effective written and oral communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Undergraduate degree in relevant area (e.g. MIS, Computer Science, Engineering) is required.
· Financial Services and/or Newspaper industry experience is highly desirable.
