Montevideo is located on the beautiful banks of the Minnesota River in Western Minnesota.
You will be expected to develop, support, and maintain integrated software system developed on Visual Studio 2005 .NET and SQL Server 2005 platform. Install, configure, and support Avicenna’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet system or a segment of a network system. Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
·Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
·Perform deployment, administration and security maintenance of Windows Server 2003-based intranet server
·Diagnose hardware and software problems associated with local and wide area network environments, PCs, and software.
·Set-up and implement standards for computer operations and use software support tools to process scheduling, reports, report generation, database administration, system data backups, performance tuning, and security.
·Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
·Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
·Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
·Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
·Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
·Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
·Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
·Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
·Procure hardware and software from vendors and other IT suppliers.
·Install/maintain software for server and workstations as needed
·Provide full desktop support and regular maintenance on individual workstations
·Set up and maintain remote access to network via VPN
·Provide emergency support on an as-needed basis due to unexpected server outages

Requirements The ideal candidate will be well-versed in core Microsoft Server technologies, such as Windows Server, SQL Server and Visual Studio .NET in order to provide full support and maintenance of these systems. This position also requires the setup and maintenance of an IIS-based intranet. The ideal candidate must also exhibit the willingness and ability to learn quickly, as the Systems Administrator must work closely with the software development team to respond rapidly to software needs within the business.
·Experience with system administration of Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005, IIS 2.0
·BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
·A complete understanding of database theory, and SQL Server in particular
·Microsoft certification MCSA or MCSE preferred
·Understanding/developmental experience in Visual Studio C#.NET a plus
·Ability to learn quickly and work independently
·Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
