The Infrastructure Manager will bring to the position a strong leadership mindset to develop and participate in overall IT planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems.  The Infrastructure Manager will work on project teams as a technical expert and deliver quality products according to project schedule. Strong emphasis on collaboration, coordination, advocacy, and mentoring

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Project planning and execution of infrastructure initiatives such as infrastructure upgrades, high availability initiatives, centralized management, and consolidation.
  • Manage operations staff allocated to projects to ensure timely, under budget delivery of projects. 
  • Interact with vendors and other interfacing teams to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Conduct performance analysis, benchmarks, trending & capacity planning. Provide metrics and analysis of existing gaps and make recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure best-practices to make informed recommendations for new tools and technologies.
  • Interface and coordinate with application programmers, operations, and other technical support staff throughout development lifecycles.
  • Engage with application development teams on current infrastructure projects, evaluate existing solutions & infrastructure and provide recommendations.
  • Proven ability to implement new standards and processes as well as standardize systems already in place.
  • Communicate and guide application and data-warehouse architecture team on infrastructure best practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  • 8 or more years of IT experience, and at least 3-5 years of leading IT infrastructure design and implementation of enterprise systems infrastructures
  • Experience in infrastructure project delivery and staff management.
  • Experience as a UNIX or Linux System Administrator is required.
  • Experience managing enterprise support systems (monitoring, backup, etc).
  • Experience designing and implementing high availability systems.
  • Experience trouble-shooting systems, network, and application issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Managing effective relationships with vendors and internal partners (hosting provider, vendor support, product development).

Preferred Background

  • Experience administering enterprise NetApp storage.  Understanding of SAN layouts and volume management
  • Experience with scripting, configuration management, and disaster recovery
  • Understanding of security from host, network, and application perspectives
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database and ETL.
  • Prior experience in business intelligence /data warehousing environments
