Job Purpose:
Manages and maintains current business relationships. Serves customers by selling products and meeting their needs. Generates revenue by developing market potential through forecasting, lead generation, up-selling and closing sales. Recommends new products and services. Represents the company at trade shows.
Duties:
· Expands sales in existing accounts by recommending new products and services; identifying needs to be filled; developing new applications; and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
· Develops and maintains favorable relationships with customers and prospects in order to increase revenue.
· Closes sales by building rapport with potential accounts; explaining product and service capabilities; overcoming objections; preparing contracts; resolve customer complaints regarding sales and service.
· Ensures that organizational goods and services consistently meet client needs.
· Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
· Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual analyses.
· Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.; recommends price schedules and discount rates in competitive situations.
· Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
· Maintains and improves quality results by following standards; recommending improved policies and procedures.
· Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
· Represents the company at national and regional trade show and association meetings. Overnight travel will be approximately 20 to 25 days a year.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Proficient with Access Office programs and preferably Goldmine (or equivalent CRM software). Knowledge of Macola and MS Access a big plus.
· Is experienced working for a entrepreneurial small business and a proven track record in directly contributing to its growth and profitability.
· Has comprehensive understanding of the required initiative, innovation and flexibility required in selling for a small business.
· Makes effective decisions by analyzing information and considering priorities. An independent, clear, analytical and creative thinker.
· Has ability to expand job responsibilities, suggests improvements, and collaborate with others to generate ideas and improve processes.
· Uses understanding of the business to develop long-term strategies to competitively position the company.
· Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
