About the Job

Johnson & Wales University is seeking a well-qualified Instructional Designer for its Office of Online Learning. This position will work collaboratively with academic leadership, faculty, and members of the Office of Online Learning to design, develop, and implement online and hybrid courses. Responsibilities include collaborating with faculty in the creation or adaptation of courses for online or hybrid delivery; training faculty on the use of online tools, course design, and online instruction; and mentoring faculty in the effective use of the online platform for delivery of online and hybrid instruction.

Johnson & Wales offers over 50 programs in business, hospitality, technology, and culinary arts. The Office of Online Learning is located in the university’s offices at its Providence, RI campus and functions under the auspices of the Provost’s Office.


 


Required Qualifications: Master’s degree; demonstrated evidence of professional experience as an instructional designer.


 


Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional or educational technology, or related field; in-depth knowledge of pedagogical issues related to online teaching and learning; knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies and design; project management skills; strong communication skills and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with faculty and staff; demonstrated computer competency with course management systems, multimedia authoring programs, HTML, and the ability to work across Windows and Macintosh platforms.
