ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTION AND RELATIONSHIPS:
To instruct adult students in the Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing Program with an emphasis in auto body welding, sheet metal repair, refinishing, and color matching. Instructors develop instructional strategies and curriculum as a regular part of their work, and are encouraged to serve on committees.
This position reports to the Dean – Construction, Manufacturing, Apprenticeship, and Transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
1. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
2. Work experience as an automotive collision technician performing job duties including, but not limited to:
a. Body repair – interior/exterior.
b. Estimating.
c. Uni-body and frame straightening.
d. Welding, heating, and cutting vehicle components.
e. Paint application and color correction.
3. Knowledge of auto body equipment, diagnosis, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair procedures.
4. Knowledge and experience with the I-CAR Collision Repair Course and Finish Matching.
5. Knowledge of personal and equipment safety.
6. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
7. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds.
8. Skill in oral and written communications.
9. Ability to interact with business and industry to establish partnerships.
10. Ability to use the computer as a management, instructional and diagnostic tool.
11. Ability to establish and maintain strong linkages to community, industry, dealer, and independent businesses.
12. Ability to work in a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (based on a combination of academic training and related work experience).
2. Two (2) years (4000 hours) of related work experience in a position in which a student would logically work after graduation from the program.
3. ASE-Certification in at least two of the following areas: 1. structural analysis and damage repair, 2. non-structural analysis and damage repair, 3. mechanical and electrical components, 4. painting and refinishing, and 5. damage (analysis & estimating).
