This market is expanding rapidly and is driven by increasing healthcare costs that are moving patients into the most cost effective delivery settings, a growing bio-pharmaceutical pipeline of infuseable and injectable medications, an aging population and the recent addition of a Medicare benefit for these products and services.

Intake Corrdinator/Pharmacy Technician

We are looking for a strong intake coordinator who is also an experienced pharmacy technician.  Primary responsability will be functioning in the intake capacity but will serve as a back-up technician.

 

 

Job Responsabilities include:

 

Responsible for taking Infusion Therapy referrals from referral sources.

 

Ensures that all intake forms are complete, clear and within Amerita’s scope of service

 

Verifies insurance, obtains authorizations and re-authorizations as required by payors, enters patient demographic, insurance and authorization information into the computer system, communicates with other departments regarding status of referrals and notifies patients/families regarding coverage and payment responsibilities

 

Maybe responsible for obtaining re-authorizations for subsequent deliveries

 

Understands which insurance companies Amerita has active contracts with

 

Ensures that insurance verification is completed and authorization is in place prior to giving the referral to a Pharmacist

 

Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information

 

Performs other tasks or special projects as requested by management

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  

Minimum of two (2) years experience collecting referral information in the healthcare market

 

Experience working with all payer types to include Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance companies

 

Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures

 

At least one year experience of aseptic preparation of infusion related pharmaceuticals in a hospital or home infusion setting

 

General knowledge of drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug use and aseptic techniques

 

   Strong interpersonal skills required

 

Education/Licenses/Certificates required:

 

High school diploma or equivalent required.  AA degree or some college preferred

 

Successful completion of an approved/accredited pharmacy technician training program

 

1-3 years related pharmacy experience in a home care setting

 

IV certified preferred
