Integration Technician - assemble, integrate, troubleshoot & test EO/IR subassemblies

Integration Technician Position Overview:

The primary objective of the Integration Technician is to assemble, integrate, troubleshoot and test highly stabilized, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) subassemblies and imaging systems (gimbals/turrets), while adhering to quality, cost and program delivery schedules.  An ideal Integration Technician has a broad background in Electro-Mechanical and Opto-Mechanical assembly and test.  Integration Technicians have the ability to comprehend schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly work instructions and test procedures.  The ability to efficiently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues are also required, to be successful in this role.  The availability to support overtime, via extended work shifts and weekends is required.

 

Integration Technicians must successfully perform tasks both independently and in a team environment.  It is common for an Integration Technician to assume a technical leadership / liaison type role, when working with fellow Production personnel.  Integration Technicians must be able to interact with all levels of the SEO Organization.  This includes, but is not limited to, Operations Management, Mfg. Engineers, Design Engineers, Systems Engineers, Test Engineers, Test Technicians, Production Planners, Procurement Personnel, Stockroom Clerks and fellow Production Personnel.  Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal format is critical to the success of the Integration Technician role.

 

Department Organization:

This position is part of the Production department's NPI / Integration work center, reporting to the NPI / Integration Production Supervisor.  There are 9 people currently in the NPI / Integration work center and 20 people currently reporting into the Production department.

 

Performance Objectives:

  • Within the first 1 month of employment, learn and participate in the following Manufacturing Processes:
    • NCMR Process
    • ECR / ECO Process
    • Work Instruction / Test Procedure Development
    • MTO Work Order Management
  • Within the first 6 months of employment, learn to assemble and test the following Outer Axis Subassemblies:
    • Azimuth Drive
    • Elevation Drive
    • Yoke Assembly
    • Outer Axis Integration
  • Within the first 12 months of employment, learn to assemble and test the following Inner Axis Subassemblies
    • Payload Assembly
    • Payload Functional Testing
    • Payload Co-Boresighting
    • Payload Integration into Outer Axis Assembly
    • Full turret Integration

ADA Requirements:

  • This person must be creative, open-minded, a strong communicator, and a good listener. Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and non-technical internal customers. Must be able to work in fast paced, schedule driven environment, without sacrificing product quality.
  • Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects.  Acute attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.  Ability to logically address, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Able to work with general manufacturing hand tools, computers and troubleshooting tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies for mechanical assembly, metalworking machines, precision measuring  and testing instruments.
  • Lift 35-50 lbs.

ยท     A considerable amount of time will be spent standing, bending over, and kneeling, while building a variety of assemblies.

                        

Basic Qualifications & Education:

  • 5-10 years electro-mechanical assembly technician experience required.
  • Experience reading highly complex schematics, design drawings, assembly drawings and bills of material and experience troubleshooting electronic and mechanical assembly problems to the component level required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel required.
  • High School Diploma required, A.A.S. Degree and/or Technician Certificate preferred.
  • It is possible that this position may require a security clearance; applicants must meet eligibility requirements to obtain access to classified information.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) to be considered for employment with L-3 SEO.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background checks standard.
