Overview
•Research, Design, Order, Implement, and Inventory OC, STS1, DS3, DS1, DS0 and Microwave Transport Facilities to support New network builds. Including initial design input, vendor selection input, project planning, ordering, and implementation.
•meet on-going capacity demand growth as requested by Traffic Engineering, Network Operations, RF Engineering, and Fixed Network Engineering, for all existing Backhaul Transport networks Research, Design, Order, Implement, and Inventory ISUP SS7, ISDN PRI, In-Band MF, In-Band DTMF Trunk Groups for Local, E911, and Long Distance Traffic to support New network builds. Including initial design input, vendor selection input, project planning, ordering, and implementation.
•Meet on-going capacity demand growth as requested by Traffic Engineering, Network Operations, RF Engineering, and Fixed Network Engineering, for all existing networks.
•Work with the Network Operations team to troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve network trouble and performance issues with Vendors.
•Develop and propose strategies to increase reliability by changing the network design, while keeping the cost to risk ratio in mind.
•Perform Quarterly Network Availability Performance reviews with Vendors to ensure they are performing to acceptable standards.
•Perform a quarterly billing review to determine if any network optimization can be done to reduce the current Backhaul & Interconnect Cost per subscriber.
•Re-homing of circuits to reduce mileage charges with current vendors, or moving circuits to another vendor.
•Review product descriptions, use cases, and network design. Design, Order, Implement, Document, and Monitor SS7 network diversity for all Signaling links to all SS7 providers either Internal or External.
•Research, Design, Order, and Implement all required Backhaul and Interconnect network
Qualifications
•BS in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent Job experience.
•Design of Transport networks for wireless or other telecommunications systems.
•Transport Network Optimization.
•Knowledge of PSTN Network Trunking (e.g. Type 1, 2A Tandem, 2B End Office, E911, IXC Dedicated, IMT, etc.) and Trunk Signaling Protocols (e.g. ISUP SS7, ISDN PRI, In-Band MF, In-Band DTMF, etc.).
•Understanding of Network Call Processing (ex. Type 1, 2A, 2B, Long Distance, 800, E911, etc…).
•Fiber Network Design Fundamentals Traffic Engineering Fundamentals Translations Fundamentals
