INTERNAL AUDITOR, SENIOR
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for execution of internal audits primarily within the US and occasionally within Mexico and Canada in accordance with the approved Annual Audit Plan developed by the Director of Internal Audit. The incumbent in this position will have an opportunity to audit many diverse areas in the Richmond-based location as well as participate in Group Audits performed by parent and other global affiliate company auditors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Conducts internal audits to verify accuracy of records, compliance with standards, policies and procedures.
- Implements appropriate audit techniques (including analytical review and development of workflow diagrams as needed) to achieve audit objectives.
- Validates audit findings and obtains management agreement on possible control solutions and the timing for proposed solutions.
- Ensures audit assignments are appropriately documented, accurate, complete and within budget.
- Contributes to the preparation of audit report drafts and other written communications.
- Maintains a positive attitude and professional demeanor in dealing with management and staff involved in the audit.
- Conducts sufficient research to obtain a working knowledge of the audit area.
- Attends training sessions to improve and learn new skills as needed.
- Performs internal fraud investigations as needed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of risks and internal controls.
- Excellent organizational skills in work paper preparation.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
- Ability to execute and manage multiple audit projects and assignments simultaneously.
- High ethical values in working with sensitive issues and in protecting the confidentiality of information regarding associates, corporate clients, partners and consumers.
- Proven analytical and report writing skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and develop work programs from guidelines.
- Ability to meet audit completion deadlines
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software
- Ability to work with core business systems for extracting required audit data into electronic work files.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor Degree – Preferred Accounting or Business Administration
- 3-5+ years internal audit experience or equivalent experience as an outside auditor, audit consultant or insurance/bank examiner.
- Preferred Certification(s): Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Desirable Certification(s): Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
- Desirable Industry Experience: Insurance, Banking, Financial Services, Travel & Hospitability.
REQUIRED LANGUAGE SKILLS
Spanish speaking is desirable; but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Conditions are consistent with that of a normal office environment. Limited travel is required which includes Mexico and Canada. There is a mandatory requirement to abide by strict confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
